Manufacturing
During a three-year project, Lightship completed a major manufacturing product
for IBM. Our roles included chief architect, middleware lead, server lead,
client lead, object modeler and developers. The commercial Manufacturing
Execution System contained 2.5 million lines of source code. It was
multi-platform (NT and AIX), multi-database (Oracle & DB2), and
multi-language. A distributed messaging system, to get objects from back-end
server to client GUIs, was constructed.
Working for this international pump manufacturer, Lightship provided an
increasing amount of design and implementation for a software tool capable of
selecting, configuring and electronically ordering pumps based upon exact
customer requirements. During this multi-year engagement, we designed complex
order configuration software. We have been instrumental in the continuing
migration of Flowserve's mission-critical sales proposal generation system from
DOS to 32-bit Windows.
The world's largest supplier of semiconductor assembly equipment, K&S,
contracted Lightship to expand its engineering facilities internationally.
Technology
GolfChamp powers a comprehensive golf score databank service that uses its web site
to collect and record real scorecard data for the purpose of playing tournaments. Lightship
developed several Web services to enable GolfChamp customers, such as the Philadelphia PGA,
to access GolfChamp data and display tournament results, on their web sites, under their own brand.
Lightship designed a digital marketplace for this e-commerce Website. We built
a custom search engine, shopping cart system and e-commerce functionality.
Lightship served as the CIO and IT department for this vortal.
Lightship developed a multimedia catalog application for the Japanese Housing
Information Center.
Lightship performed risk assessment analysis.
A leader in providing strategic advertising intelligence and marketing
information, CMR chose Lightship to design and integrate an acquisition system
for remote video recordings, verify the integrity of the collected data and,
design a Web interface for remote maintenance of CMR's embedded system.
Lightship created a prototype for this cutting-edge Internet appliance.
Completed hardware/software integration.
Leading innovators of the optical technologies industry, Questar engaged
Lightship to develop software that supported high precision motion control and
real-time remote control for Astronomical and Terrestrial viewing, Long-Range
Surveillance and Security Systems and, Microscopic Imaging, Recording, and
Measuring.
Financial and Insurance Services
Lightship conducted a project audit of this insurance company's multi-million
dollar policy administration system. USAA is a worldwide insurance and
diversified financial services association.
Lightship created a Web-based, software package that allows agents to maintain
their clients' portfolio of accounts in real-time. Designed application
architecture, technical architecture and a prototype Web application.
Lightship was contracted to improve this brokerage firm's IT development
methodologies for use in developing new, in-house applications.
A provider of foreign currency broking services, EBS engaged Lightship to craft
agile components needed to rapidly develop and deploy new products in
anticipation of entering new Foreign Exchange markets.
The Association for Cooperative Operations Research and Development (ACORD) is
the insurance industry's nonprofit standards developer, a resource for
information about object technology, EDI, XML and electronic commerce in the
United States and abroad. Lightship was selected to assist in developing
software to publish object-oriented standards to the Property and Casualty
industry sector.
